K Balachander passes away at 84
Veteran filmmaker K Balachander (84) passed away due to prolonged illness on Tuesday while undergoing treatment at Kauvery Hospital in Chennai.
K Balachander was instrumental in both Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan's film career. Some of his best films include "Aval Ora Thodar Kathai", "Apoorva Raagangal", "Avargal", "Varumayin Niram Sigappu" and "47 Natkal".
K Balachander was born on July 9th, 1930. He directed 101 films in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Hindi. He was a recipient of 9 National awards and was conferred with Dadasaheb Phalke Award in the year 2011.
