'OK Kanmani' is more than OK on many counts, though in totality it is just OK. 

മനോഹരമായ ഷോട്ടുകള്‍, അതിശയോക്തിയുടെ അതിപ്രസരമില്ലാത്ത കഥ, എ.ആര്‍.റഹ്മാന്റെ സംഗീതം, എല്ലാത്തിലുമുപരി പകരം വയ്ക്കാനില്ലാത്ത കാസ്റ്റിങ്... ഏറെക്കാലത്തിനു ശേഷം മണി രത്‌നത്തിന്റെ മികച്ച ചിത്രമെന്ന് ഒ.കെ. കണ്‍മണിയെ വിശേഷിപ്പിക്കാന്‍ ഇത്രയുമൊക്കെ ധാരാളമാണ്. 

ബോക്‌സ്ഓഫീസില്‍ വീണ രാവണന്‍, കടല്‍ എന്നീ പരാജയങ്ങള്‍ക്കുശേഷം പ്രമേയപരമായും ആഖ്യാനപരമായും ലളിതമായ സിനിമയിലേക്കു തിരിച്ചുപോകുന്ന ഒരു മണിരത്‌നം സിനിമ എന്ന നിലയില്‍ ശ്രദ്ധേയമാണ് ഓ കാതല്‍ കണ്‍മണി. എന്നാല്‍ ഒരു സാദാ പ്രണയകഥ എന്നതിനും ആഖ്യാനത്തിലെ റിയലിസത്തിനും അപ്പുറം ഒന്നുമല്ല ഈ കാതലും കണ്‍മണിയും.

OK Kanmani might not have gone beyond its genre or broken new grounds in film-making but it nevertheless tells us not to be judgmental, that no one’s really that heroic, that good, that blameless,that unselfish, and right/wrong is a matter of perspective and personal choice. 

The movie begins to look good only just before the interval and gains pace in the second half as it advances to a convincing climax.

After the failed experiments of Raavanan and Kadal, these questions are being raised yet again.

Mani Ratnam's timely reflection of our society is the one you shouldn't miss.

The film can be called as a prequel of Alaipayuthey with all the elements required to entertain today's young movie goers. OK Kanmani  is more than just OK.

 If we consider the pre-release expectation and hype it was not that OK and ended as a passable film which will not disappoint you and also not satisfy you fully.

In short, the film is a must watch one; delivering the importance of marriage in human relationship; told in the background of a love story.
