Synopsis:

Parankimala, an intense tale of love, released way back in 1981 was noted for its connect to the two luminaries of Malayalam literature and cinema, Kakkanadan and Bharathan. The rustic story penned by Kakkanadan in 1971 was brilliantly framed by the veteran director. Now, the remake of the film that once set the screen on fire, is set to hit the marquee. In the new version, directed by debutant Sennan Pallaserry, Biyon and Vinuda Lal will reprise the lead characters, Appu and Thanka.

പറങ്കിമലയില്‍നിന്ന് ഒന്നിറങ്ങിവന്നിട്ട് വേറേ വല്ല പടവും ചെയ്താല്‍ സെന്നന്‍ മിന്നിയേക്കും എന്ന പ്രതീക്ഷ പങ്കുവയ്ക്കാന്‍ മാത്രമേ തോന്നുന്നുള്ളൂ.

മലയാള സിനിമയുടെ വസന്ത കാലഘട്ടത്തെ അഭ്രപാളികളിലെത്തിച്ച് നമ്മെ വിസ്മയിപ്പിച്ച ചലച്ചിത്രകാരന്‍ ഭരതനോടും, കാലത്തിന് മുമ്പേ നടന്ന്, അസൂയാവഹമായ രചനകളിലൂടെ മലയാളിയുടെ ചിന്താശേഷിയെ പുതിയ തലങ്ങളില്‍ എത്തിച്ച കാക്കനാടനോടും നാം മാപ്പ് ചോദിക്കേണ്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

'Parankimala' belonged to the times that it was made. There was no rhyme or reason to attempt a remake. Recent attempts at the remake of olden classics have been disappointing and Sennan Pallassery's debut venture is no different.
