സാങ്കേതികതക്ക് പ്രാമുഖ്യം ലഭിക്കുകയും പ്രമേയത്തിന് കരുത്തില്ലാതാവുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന ന്യൂജനറേഷന്‍ സിനിമയുടെ കാലത്താണ് രഞ്ജിത്തിന്‍െറ ഈ പരീക്ഷണം എന്നതിനാല്‍ ഏറെ പ്രസക്തമാവുന്നുണ്ട് ഞാന്‍ എന്ന സിനിമ 

സ്‌ട്രോങായും ലൈറ്റായും പഞ്ചസാര കൂട്ടിയും കുറച്ചും പാലൊഴിക്കാതെയും പലവിധത്തില്‍ ചായ അടിക്കുന്ന പാകതവന്ന ഒരു ചായയടിക്കാരന്റെ ഒരു സ്‌പെഷല്‍ ചായയാണ് ‘ഞാന്‍’ എന്ന ചിത്രം. ചേരുവകള്‍ എല്ലാവര്‍ക്കും ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടണമെന്നില്ല. എങ്കിലും രുചിച്ചു നോക്കാവുന്നതാണ്.

‘Njan’ can be prescribed only for the lovers of unconventional movies and plots. Definitely a multi-layered film, it may be more savoured by those who likes to peel off layers to look into the innerself.

Njan' has the classic Ranjith signature all over it and without doubt is the film maker's best directorial venture till date. Opulently layered with intricacies, the film is in no way an easy watch, and yet is an accomplished piece of cinema that offers the discerning viewer an observant slice straight out of life.

The film belongs to Dulquer and the ensemble cast. Njan is not a completely satisfying film, but it is a courageous effort.

എല്ലാവര്‍ക്കും വേണ്ടിയുള്ള സിനിമയല്ല 'ഞാന്‍'. ആഖ്യാനമികവുകൊണ്ട് ശ്രദ്ധേയമാണെങ്കിലും ഒരു എന്റര്‍ടെയ്‌നറല്ല ഞാന്‍. നോവലിന്റെ ചലച്ചിത്ര ആവിഷ്‌കാരം എന്ന നിലയില്‍ തീര്‍ച്ചയായും ആസ്വാദ്യകരമായ അനുഭവമാണ് രഞ്ജിത്തിന്റെ ധീരമായ പരീക്ഷണം. നോവല്‍ വായിച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്തവര്‍ക്കും ആസ്വദിക്കാവുന്ന നിലവാരമുള്ള കലാസൃഷ്ടി.

Njan has a promising premise, but it is a half-hearted attempt that ends up as a disappointment. Now, decide on your own!

"Njan" is definitely not a typical filmy entertainer with lots of twist, turns or gripping moments but is a reflection of an individual's culture, attitudes, emotions, values, ethics, genetics, perceptions and social space.

If you think that film is all for entertainment, then "Njaan" Malayalam movie is going to put you in a discomfort zone. For sure it is not everybody's cup of tea, director Ranjith succeeded in placing script within quaint ambience, but on execution term, it won't keep things in tandem.

 'Njan', an adaptation of T P Rajeevan's 'KTN Kottoor: Ezhuthum Jeevithavum', Ranjith eschews his intense style of film-making and settles for more sombre structure to tell a story while attempting his best not to document, but without much success.

“ഞാൻ” എന്നത് വളരെ മികച്ച ഒരു സിനിമാ സംരംഭമാക്കിത്തീർത്തതിൽ അങ്ങയോടു ശരിക്കും നന്ദി പറയുന്നു. എല്ലാ വിധ ആശംസകളും നേരുന്നു.

'Njan' surely has dollops of honesty but what it lacks is compactness and that X factor of cinematic brilliance. And thats why it ends up as a rather incomplete self portrait which could have been vastly better.

Strongly recommended for the audience who love to watch unconventional movies. 

Overall Njaan as a bit too complicated presentation of a possibly relevant subject. It has great performances from the supporting cast and some worthy statements that will grab attention of your thinking caps. But still the movie stays in that average zone. So the rating is 2.5/5.

Njan is the sensitive approach of the director that makes the film stand apart,definitely not to be missed by those who love good cinema.
