Gangster

ഇതു ഗ്യാങ്‌സ്റ്ററല്ല, വെറും ഗ്യാസ്-സ്റ്റാറാണ്...ടോട്ടല്‍ ഡിസാസ്റ്റര്‍... മമ്മൂട്ടി എന്ന മെഗാതാരത്തിന്റെ ബ്രാന്‍ഡ് മൂല്യം മുതലാക്കാന്‍ ഇറക്കിയ 'ആന്‍ ആഷിക് അബു' ബ്ലണ്ടര്‍. 

Call it inspiration or adaptation; anyway, both won’t make much difference in the meaning, as this is the same old antipathetic jerk movie. The entire brouhaha did provide nothing.

മലയാളസിനിമയുടെ ചരിത്രത്തിൽ ഇന്നോളം ഉണ്ടായിട്ടുള്ള അധോലോകസിനിമകളിലെ എല്ലാ മണ്ടത്തരങ്ങളും തിരഞ്ഞുപിടിച്ച് ഒന്നിച്ചവതരിപ്പിക്കുന്ന സമ്പൂർണ വിജ്ഞാനകോശമാണ് ആഷിക് അബുവിന്റെ ഗാംങ്‌സ്റ്റർ. മഹാഭാരതത്തിന്റെ കാര്യം പോലെ ഇതിലുള്ളത് പലതിലും കാണും; ഇതിൽ ഇല്ലാത്തത് ഒന്നിലും കാണില്ല. എനിക്ക് സന്തോഷമായി!

Even though the film hasn't come off well due to poor script, but still have to admire that director Aashiq Abu has coined a visual amazement, which is adorable.

On the whole, Gangster is the perfect action thriller to watch this summer.

എല്ലാ അര്‍ത്ഥത്തിലും പ്രേക്ഷകരെ കബളിപ്പിച്ച ചലച്ചിത്രനിര്‍മ്മിതി എന്നത് മാത്രമാണ് ആഷിക് അബുവിന്റെ ഗ്യാംഗസ്റ്ററിന് നല്‍കാവുന്ന ടാഗ് ലൈന്‍. ആഷിക് അബു തിരിച്ചുവരട്ടെ മമ്മൂട്ടിയും കൂടെ വരട്ടെ, നല്ല സിനിമകള്‍ ഉണ്ടാകട്ടെ.

At the end Gangster is an experiment went wrong. So this GANGSTER failed to RISE.

If you have seen even two decent gangster films, the script and treatment of this Mammootty-starrer will come across as completely banal. The story penned by Ahmed Sidhique and Abhilash Kumar is cliche-ridden and nowhere near the standards expected from this much-hyped film.

Attempting to be stylish is no sin. Casting experimentations are good. Showing brilliance with the camera is great. But for all this to fit in perfectly well, the storyline has to be good, the script has to be worked out well. Otherwise it all goes waste, totally waste.

Even those who feel like defending this film because it is made for the mass audience will be disappointed with this cliched film.

Aashiq Abu, aimless and distracted he may be, places his full trust in his script and does his best to enrich it.

Abilash and Ahmed Siddiqui who have written the shaky screenplay should have seen to it that they at least shorten the 'Yawning time', if not eradicate it! Still, this movie could be a great ride only for those who like gangster movies.

'വിഷുചിത്രം' എന്ന് എഴുതിയത് കണ്ടു ആരും തെറ്റിദ്ധരിക്കേണ്ട കാര്യമില്ല. വിഷുവിന് നല്ല ഭംഗിയായി 'പൊട്ടുന്ന' പടക്കങ്ങള്‍ മാര്‍ക്കറ്റില്‍ ഇറങ്ങാറുണ്ട്... ആ പടക്കങ്ങളുടെ ഗതി തന്നെ ആയിരിക്കും ഈ ചിത്രത്തിനും എന്ന് പറയാന്‍ അല്പം വളഞ്ഞ വഴി ഉപയോഗിച്ചു എന്നേയുള്ളൂ.... എന്തായാലും ആഷിക് അബു എന്ന 'സംവിധായക നിര്‍മ്മാതാവിന്‍റെ' ധൈര്യം സമ്മതിക്കണം.

The plot is quite foreseeable – where the villain tries to destroy the hero and the hero soon undergoes a resurrection and lays to rest all his foes. The film has not lived up to the exaggerated expectations that the makers of this film have created.

Gangster can be categorized as an above average fare finally but taking the hype and hoopla around it, it’s a disappointment. Some visuals, a stylish Mammootty remains as positive once you leave the hall.

At last, we have only the technical department proving their worthy, with Alby leading the chart. Deepak Dev’s music might not be that much bad, but wasn’t refreshing either. In terms of scoring BGM, like its compatriots, he did its job fine enough.The even sag that painfully persists throughout, the mindless gunshots and blood splatter and the sodden predictability together blow up this film beyond recognition. And no amount of crashing and crunching can salvage an entertainer from the massive debris that it leaves behind.

ഗ്യാങ്സ്റ്റര്‍ വലിയൊരു ദുരന്തം

Malayalam had anointed Aashiq Abu right at the top of the promising directors’ list after his Salt N’ Pepper but it has been a disappointing journey for the filmmaker ever since. Gangster is perhaps an act of impudence, with scant regard for the time and money of the viewer. It’s not easy to sit through this boring film even for a hardcore Mammootty fan.

Gangster is a disappointment in comparison with the expectation.  Alby’s cinematography and some scattered scenes that define Akbar’s attitude level will surely get appreciated in the long run.  My rating is a generous 2.5/5 for the Mammootty starrer Gangster. Its technical glory, but story.. I am so sorry.

A visual treat by all means, Gangster satisfies the appetite of the fan and connoisseur alike and is one movie that is not to be missed this season

On the whole, the movie Gangster works only for its different style, performances, music, visuals and the engaging climax sequences. Rest is pretty much average.

Gangster is a perfect combination of style with substance. Definitely a one-time watch for one and all and treat for Mammootty fans

The wafer thin plot and lack of sub plots or intriguing elements or edge of the seat moments make 'Gangster' a mighty let down.
