Ennum Eppozhum

Ennum Eppozhum may have the basic ingredients, but there is no story long in sight. 

ചിലപ്പോഴൊക്കെ ചിരിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചിലപ്പോഴൊക്കെ ചിന്തിപ്പിക്കുകയും മറ്റു ചിലപ്പോൾ നല്ല രീതിയിൽ ബോറടിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന ഒരു ചിത്രമാണെന്ന് വേണമെങ്കിൽ പറയാം. വൃത്തികെട്ട സംഭാഷണങ്ങളോ പേടിപ്പിക്കുന്ന സീനുകളോ ഒന്നുമില്ലാത്ത ക്ലീൻ സിനിമയാണെന്നും പറയാം.

പ്രമേയങ്ങളുടെ ആവര്‍ത്തനത്തിലൂടെ അങ്ങേയറ്റം വിരസമായിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്ന അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്‍െറ സമീപകാല സിനിമകളുടെ തുടര്‍ച്ച തന്നെയാണ് ‘എന്നും എപ്പോഴും’ എന്ന ചിത്രം. 

മാദ്ധ്യമ പ്രവർത്തകന്റേയും കുടുംബ കോടതി അഭിഭാഷകയുടേയും കഥ പറയുന്ന ഈ ചിത്രം സാധാരണക്കാരനെ ആകർഷിക്കാനുള്ളതെല്ലാം ചേർത്ത് വച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. 

Ennum Eppozhum lacks the fluidity and penetration power that a Sathyan Anthikad film promises and is ultimately underwhelming. Nevertheless, it has moments to relish for fans of both stars.

തുടക്കത്തില്‍ ഏറെക്കുറെ വേറിട്ടതെന്നും എന്നാല്‍ പുരോഗമിക്കുംതോറും മറ്റൊരു അന്തിക്കാട് ഉല്‍പന്നമെന്നും ഉറപ്പിച്ച കാഴ്ചയാണ് എന്നും എപ്പോഴും.

സ്ഥിരം പ്രേക്ഷകരെ സത്യന്‍ മടുപ്പിക്കില്ല. യുവപ്രേക്ഷകരെ മോഹന്‍ലാലും.

Ennum Eppozhum fails to impress.

Ennum Eppozhum is a movie that won't disappoint its targeted audience.

Overall, I found the movie a decent one good for all audiences but more suitable for family audiences and with vacation time already running, the film is definitely bound to get a decent run at the box office. My rating is three and a quarter out of five for Sathyan Anthikad’s Ennum Eppozhum.

On the whole, here is a film where you know what's going to happen next but end up enjoying, watching it unfold. Proceed at your own risk!

At the end of it all, when one looks back at it, the title of the film sounds the scariest. Is it a forewarning by any chance, that prospective Sathyan Anthikad films will forever (Ennum Epozhum) remain within a redone-to-death mould? 

ശരാശരി നിലവാരത്തിൽ നിന്നും താഴോട്ടു പോകാത്ത ഒരു സാധാരണ കുടുംബ ചിത്രമാണ് “എന്നും എപ്പോഴും” എന്ന ഏറ്റവും പുതിയ സത്യൻ അന്തിക്കാട് ചിത്രം. അമിത പ്രതീക്ഷയെ മുറിക്കുള്ളിൽ പൂട്ടിയിട്ട് തീയറ്ററിലെത്തിയാൽ, “എന്നും എപ്പോഴും” ആരെയും നിരാശരാക്കില്ല.

തെറിവിളികളോ ബുദ്ധിജീവി സംഭാഷണങ്ങളോ അതിനാഗരികതയുടെ സങ്കീര്‍ണ്ണതകളില്‍ കുടുങ്ങിപ്പോയ കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളോ ക്യാമറയുടെ ഞാണിന്മേല്‍ക്കളിയോ ഒന്നുമില്ലാതെ കുടുംബത്തോടൊപ്പം ചേര്‍ന്ന് ആസ്വദിക്കാന്‍ നന്മയുള്ള ഒരു അവധിക്കാലചിത്രം. 

 It makes no tall claims and takes the safest route possible. Whether it will live upto it's title and remain etched in the memory of the viewers forever is the moot question. And the answer is, unlikely.

Ennum Eppozhum it means Forever Always and the title really looks perfect after we watched the film.
